| Jack Cunningham is working a dead end job that he hates and living his life as a lonely alcoholic divorcee. He is asked by his alma mater where he was the star to come back and coach their currently losing boys basketball team. He reluctantly agrees to but doesn't give up his life of alcohol which ends up costing him the coaching position, but not before he has gotten the team built up to believe in each other and especially themselves. He is devastated when he loses his job with the boys because this has come at a time when the memory of what brought his alcoholism on is coming out which is the loss of his son to cancer and a friend his son met while going through treatment is found to have new cancer development. Jack finally gets treatment and decides to get his life back and not to let the memory of his son be tarnished by his own alcoholism. | ||
